Thank you for what you are doing. You must be so tired, beyond tired. What you are doing is very dangerous work. We want you to know how much it means to us that you are doing it and your skill in doing so. I can't even begin to describe the sorrow I feel for the loss of all that beauty and serenity, but it would be so much worse for us if not for you. Our home away from home is very important to us as well, and it looks like you are going to save that for us, too. THANK YOU

I am grateful that there are so many dedicated people that have come together to help save the well being of the U.P. God bless all of you and your efforts. As with the sentiments of many others, it is home to many of us, although we may have moved away. And home to many who have not. The U.P. is still where many of my family reside. Thank you -

May God bless all the men and women who are working so hard fighting this terrible fire. All the citizens and organizations that are working to help the firefighters are doing such an amazing job. Keep up the good job. I grew up in lower MI now live in Seattle but have kept up with the news via Yooper Yarns blog in Newberry MI, she has done a great job with updates. Hopefully we will be returning to Taquamenon Falls State Park in January 2008. Again, thanks and God bless all those putting their lives on the line to protect our beautiful state.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by the fire and all of those who are working so hard to get everyone back to their homes safe and sound! I vacationed in the U.P. every summer for years. My grandparents live there and are currently evacuated. Thank you to all who are helping to save the property and to those who are supporting them! God Bless and God Speed! Jenn Brown

Thank you to all of the folks fighting the fires, endangering their lives. Also to all the folks who have donated supplies and food to those working to contain and put out this fire. Also to the hours of work the Red Cross are putting in. I am also very impressed at the willingness to help vacationers find other places to camp. It's completely an all out effort that is producing wonderful bonding and showing that Michigan is a winter water wonderland of caring people who come together in the face of travesty. We have 10 acres across M123 and it is scary to think it is so close and yet so far away at the same time. We are praying for all of the people working on the fire and the support people as well as for the homes and businesses in the area, especially those suffering from being closed at the time of year they need to make good sales. I also keep praying for the bear at the Oswald Bear Ranch and also for all the wildlife in the area of the fire. So many disasters this week. I read online some remarks elsewhere about people saying "oh well, it's just a swamp" and "it's just natural generation of trees" but it is so much more than that. This is home; this is where many of us come to get away from the rat race. It is beautiful country. We have lived in Petoskey for over 20 years and it is getting so this is much too busy of a place for us to live. It was so simple when we came here. Anyway, thank you all for all you are doing. We will be praying for you.

I would like to extend my appreciation for the resolve shown by each and every person involved in the massive undertaking of the Sleeper Lake fire. I was visiting the area during the early stages and had stopped by the ICP on Saturday to check on the Williams camp which I had spent many deer seasons at with my father and the Williams boys. At that time the historic (built in early 1920's) camp had been saved which was great news to me. I was very saddened to find out later this week the fire had returned and took the old buildings. Being a firefighter for 23 years I know all efforts were made not to lose any structures and I pray that no others will be lost. Good luck gang and keep up the GREAT WORK!

It was so heart wrenching to see the photos, but also uplifting to see the community come together in such wonderful spirit and support of all the people involved in keeping us safe as well as protecting the forest. I am told the fire is very close to my grandparents cabin which is a place I hold so dear to my heart. It is sad there is a possibility of it not being there. I pray for everyones safety and a lot of rain. With all of my heart THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
