Wow..... you are truly amazing people to do this job we appreciate it. When I left for my vacation, the fire had just started and I had heard down here (near Detroit) that the fire was by Perch Lake so, MY cabin in McMillan wasn't in jeopardy.....but, when I got up there and saw how fiercely the winds were gusting and how close the fire really was.....oh Lord. I don't know you all kept it contained earlier in the week when the winds were just so bad and then with the other fire over in Hulbert.... So glad that there are heroes that are willing to put their lives on hold to save our forests. And, thanks for rescuing the little owl....he's a cutie...grey....are you calling him, Smokey? And it was such a classy act when you folks donated the cans for the kids can and bottle drive.

Thank you firefighters, volunteers, and those in the Newberry and Surrounding areas for your remarkable efforts. We have a cabin on Manistique Lake and have daily kept up with the fire status. We are continuously praying for much rain, your safety, and your good fortune as you battle one of the worst fires in the beautiful UP known as Gods Country.

Thanks for all the hard work you're doing. Once in a while I can pick up the choppers on my fire radio, hearing them give instructions to the ground, etc. Thanks that you are working there so that I can stay at home ready to fight fires here. Our Inwood Township (Cooks, MI) Volunteer Fire Department doesn't have enough depth to give up members to help there... although we would if necessary. One day we got a good whiff of the smoke and we were thankful we were here and you all were there. God watch over you and bless you.

To all involved in this seemingly endless fire assult on Luce County... thank you for all the hard work. There aren't enough words to show the appreciation of saving the properties of the north country and the lives the precious wildlife caught in the path of this fire. Your ongoing work is is priceless.

Gallagher Kids
We would like to thank MOM (Kathy) and DAD (John) Gallagher for all that they have been doing during this terrible time. Mom has been doing volunteer work with the Red Cross every weekend since August 2nd, the start of this fire. She works 6 days a week at her day job. She does the volunteer work after her day job is over. Dad is the Park Ranger at Muskelonge State Park, He is a DNR employee. He has been fighting this fire since August 2nd. Dad has been averaging 143 hours in a two week period. Our parents also run Gallaghers Windy Corners Rental. Which is cabin rentals and snowmobile rentals. Again Mom does the bookwork and laundry after her day job is over. Dad cleans the cabins and preps the sleds before and after each ride. We would just like to say THANK YOU BOTH for all of lifes lessons you have taught all 6 of us kids. God Bless both of you and ALL of the SLEEPER LAKE FIRE volunteers.

Wife of a devoted Wildland Firefighter, You are the reason I did the video, so that you the people left behind can see what their husband, wife or children are doing. So you can show were daddy or mommy is and what they are fighting. Thank you all for blessing us with someone willing to spend long hours in the woods full of smoke and mosquitoes, or in an office tracking where it’s going next, putting together breakfasts, lunches or dinners, or lodging to sleep at night, and the list could go on but you know who you are and we thank you all.
