| Thank You To ALL of The firefighters..no matter in what manner you are helping fight this fire. We have a cabin on Muskalounge Lake..... we are hoping this fire spares our little peice of "gods country", as well as everyone elses property, so we may return in years to come to the same get away we have enjoyed in the UP for over 50 years. Prayers are with all you from Toledo Ohio, and the HEIDTS Family. |

| A big thanks and job well done from California. Thanks to all the firefighters and support personnel that have kept this fire in check with limited resources.
Way to go!
As someone that grew up in Newberry and kicked around in many of the fire areas I really appreciate the updates from RadioEagle and especially the photos posted by Velvet Green.

| To the Fire Fighters: Thank you for your tireless efforts! You are working to protect the land and the homes of the people that you don't even know. I was born and raised in Newberry. Having hiked, fished, and camped in those areas, I understand the harsh conditions. May all of you return home safely, knowing you done your job well! |

| We say thank you also!! We are in Kykotsmovi, AZ and just finished reading and looking at the pictures. Our children, Rick and Pam sent this to us and have also kept us informed. We love the UP both summer and winter and we truly are saddened to hear of a fire of this magnitude. May God protect each of you throughout this time. |

| Wow! We are planning on being in that area soon, so I was really freaked when I heard about the fire. (I have some major breathing issues when it comes to smoke!) I also have a small child, so my family's safety is my greatest concern. We were on the 6th Floor of a hotel once when someone pulled the fire alarm as a prank. We evacuated down the stairs at 3:30am. That was traumatic enough, I would not want it to be for real! But it sounds like you guys are really making an incredible effort to keep it contained and under control. I will pray for everyone's safety, and RAIN!! Take care ~ Bonnie |

| Thank you to everyone who is working so hard to say the place we all love so much. I have loved Newberry since the day I came here 13 years ago, and the support this community has shown only makes me love it more.
To the firefighters - YOU ARE AMAZING!! WE LOVE YOU! Thank you for all your tireless dedication to our land, our camps, and to us. You have truly gone above and beyond to help us and we appreciate all you have done.
Thank you to all the DNR people who have worked tirelessly to support the firefighters, especially Ann Wilson for keeping us informed via Eagle Radio (Casey, Terri, and Dan.. you guys are terrific as well!)
Also, thank you to all the volunteers, the Red Cross, the Sheriff's Dept, everyone who made this a true heroic effort.

| Smokey Skies
In the silence of day a shrill scream of a siren brings me to a stop.
A flash of blue as a State Trooper speeds past, followed by a red fire truck.
A forest I have known most all my life, a place of beauty and wild life
Tears fill my eyes as I look to the north, the sky now blackened with rolling smoke
I see the hard working souls of young and old, push them selves on to save our world
As the smoke rolls across our wood lands, filling the air with the scent of the fire
Our hearts go out to those that battle the roaring flames in the heat of day
Carrying with them their day’s labor, blackened faces with the scent and taste of fire
To all that have given their time with all their hearts, I can only bow my head with a whisper of Thanks
