| Thank you to the community of Newberry for watching over my firefughter (and others) so well. For those of us who stay behind and keep the "home fires burning", it is a relief to know that people do care about the job our loved ones are doing. It can be a very difficult task to keep going every day with such long hours. Your support has been awesome and every firefighter does appreciate it! Thanks again for watching over our guys and gals! |

| To all the residents of the UP and on behalf of the CT DEP Wildfire Crew currently assigned to the Sleeper Lake Fire - let me say THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU. Your support and appreciation of the firefighters means more than you know. My husband who is a member of the CT Crew mentions the wonderful gestures of the local residents during every conversation we are able to have during his tour. They are trained and volunteer for this work. But, the thanks and appreciation shown by all of you truly means a lot to them! Stay safe. |

| We live in southern Michigan, but we have dear friends who live in the Newberry area and we sometimes vacation there in the lovely pine forests. We are so grateful to the hard-working, big-hearted folks who are fighting the fire alongside our friends, John and Kathy. Bless you! And bless all those folks in the Newberry area who are so gracious and hospitable even when their own homes and lives are in danger. Our Northern woods are so important to all of us in this nation--every breath we take is on the line. Our hearts and hopes are with you! |
