| I did not realize the full extent of gradatude the people in this area were feeling until I went looking for thank you fire fighter signs. People are giving to help the fire fighters not only with material things but from the heart. What a blessing it is to live in such a caring and generous community.

| With the news of the Minneapolis Bridge Collapse, the UP fire was last page news. Detroit area news channels barely covered it, but closer to me in the Flint area we had better updates (not by much). The best updates came from the Radio Eagle site and my mother, who happens to live in Deer Park. Thank goodness for the internet and God Bless those Firefighters who battled the heat, dirt, lack of sleep and endless hours out there saving our backyard from burning away. In the next couple of years those acres are going to flourish with new growth of trees and wildflowers, creating a haven for little critters and tourists. A mixed blessing. I'm glad everyone is safe, thanks to the organization of the wonderful people of Newberry and emergency personnel who's experience in battling wildfires is exceptional. |

| I have been following the news of the fire from Mt. Pleasant and am in awe of the efforts of the firefighters and of the other volunteers who have done so much to help them. I am a former Newberry resident and am proud of my hometown. Way to go everyone! Thanks! |
