| Mike Murphy is an outdoorsmen, builder, artist, and "Jack of all trades, master of many" as some have said. He has a duel degree in Wildlife Biology and Parks and Recreation. Through his lifetime he has experienced a wide range of employment such as ski instructor, wilderness guide, and owner of a retail sporting goods store. As well as being talented in the arts, Mike likes to hunt, fish, and run a sled dog team, which he still does as a long distance racer. He has competed in many 200-300 mile long races a well as the 1100 mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska. |

Originally from the Mid-Michigan area, Mike and his wife Cathy followed their dreams to the Upper Peninsula in 1994 where they operated an outfitting business offering guided dog sled adventures in the winter, and guided horseback trips in the summer. Mike continues to run his sled dogs while his wife Cathy teaches at the Newberry Elementary School. Cathy is a trained Fung Shui consultant, counselor, and Reiki practitioner, and she runs her own business called Radiant Space.
