| It is Mike's belief that all things carry a life force inside of them. Most things lose that force when they die. When a tree ceases to live however, a small spark of that force lingers. A tree is unique in that respect. It continues to carry and transmit energy and beauty in many forms. It can be transformed into lumber and furniture, and many useful things. A fallen tree when exposed to the forces of nature, still emits a natural beauty. A painter uses his gift to create a painting, and as he paints, he transfers an expression of his own life force onto the canvas. Essentially "giving life" to an inanimate object. When a rustic artist lays his or her hands on wood, they "merge" their life force with that of the wood to bring forth an individual piece that reflects the essence of both. Similar to a gentle breeze caressing a spark to flame, they need each other. |
